First Post!

I'm very excited to be starting this blog. I've decided it's time to have a blog for a number of reasons.

First of all, I spend a lot of time on the internet. While this is my first post in the blog, I thousands of posts all over the internet, mostly concentrated on fan message boards. This is great, because I get to scrutinize details of every media tidbit that comes from these celebrities, and the people who read my posts care. I run into trouble, however, when I just feel like expressing myself on issues great and small, but not related to the board's primary topic. I don't want to make a thread for me to ponder within, but typing a personal Word document at home would be kind of boring. I find that when I post, I use choppy sentences, and I'm not concerned with grammar. This concerns me.

Second of all, I'm about to graduate from high school. I'll have more time in the summer to get started with the blog. Then, I bet they'll be a lot to blog about once I'm exposed to all the thought-provoking ideas college is supposed to bring.

Now that we have established why this blog exists, I'll speak a bit to the purpose, audience, and content.

This blog is not meant to be a diary, a piece of art, a schedule, or a personal newspaper. I would like to think about world issues, and also some special issues related to being a teenager, or being a girl, or being a college student. Maybe a particularly notable personal observation will be addressed.

I am not currently linking to this blog from anywhere online. This means that this blog is not targeted toward any particular group of internet friends, nor is it meant for real life friends and family. Right now, I'm hoping the general internet will read it.

So far, you already know a lot about me. I will include certain things about myself right now, so that you have a picture of who is writing. If I want to add some bit of information later, I will do that as necessary. This is the base information about me:
I am an 18-year-old girl.
I live in Upstate New York with my parents and sister.
I will be attending college in the fall, also in Upstate New York.

I will try to write grammatically, and express myself as accurately as possible, but I am probably not going to bother proofreading.

The fact that I am bothering to explain all of this should make it clear that this is not going to be emotional rambling, or something that is supposed to be striking and succinct, leaving a gulf between author and reader. I want this to be interesting, but mostly, I want to write about a lot of different things!
